THTC Rebrand

Climate change themed advert for THTC.

In 2007 I started working with eco streetwear brand The Hemp Trading Company as their head of brand. My first job was a full rebrand including new logo and visual direction. My role encompassed design, art direction for all aspects of the brand. I stayed with THTC for a year and worked closely with the founders on bringing the brand up to date and in line with their new vision for the direction of the company.

Unfortunately they ran out of money and made almost the whole team redundant. The company still exists in a much smaller capacity now and is still using the logo and many of the designs I made for them now.

While working at THTC I met Paul Yuille who started at the same time as head of production. We became a great friends and collaborators and set up our own design consultancy Made Up when the company made us redundant. Since then Paul has gone on to become a professor in sustainable fashion and has run departments at LCF and Goldsmiths. I still use the name Made Up for some things, it’s the reason I am owenmadeup on instagram and twitter.

Deconstructed photoshoot with b-boy crew.

Deconstructed photoshoot with Danny Dyer and a singer who’s name I can’t remember.
