Island Snowboards

Vol:One

It was a great honour to be asked to update the graphics for the Vol:One model from Island Snowboards. The Japanese board makers are a new brand of handmade and engineered snowboards and represent a pinnacle of board design as well as leading the way for smaller, sustainable brands who are turning their backs on mass production, working with a more boutique, personal set of core values.

The Volume One is their origianl and most popular board shape, designed for deep powder, powerful piste carving and all mountain riding.

My graphic uses an old x-ray of my skull taken during the winter season of 2002 while I was living in Meribel, France for snow seasons (I found it whilst rummaging through my archive to build this website). The image is split across the 4 boards in the range and comes in both a psychedelic colour version or a toned down monotone version. A custom ‘Vol:One’ logotype and hand-drawn graphic icons referencing the cycles of love, growth, life & death complete the design.

Available in good snowboard shops and online now!
